Recreating design inspriration through the Buon Ma Thuot garden house project
With URHOUSE, every project carries its own unique imprint and story, and the Buon Ma Thuot Garden House project is no exception. Every detail has been meticulously crafted to recreate the rustic beauty of the highlands, offering a living space rich in artistry and close to nature.
Project Overview

Located in Alley 103, at the intersection of Ama Khê and Đinh Núp streets in Buon Ma Thuot City, this site is nestled within the highlands of Dak Lak, where the tropical monsoon climate remains mild. The surrounding natural landscape embodies the serene and slightly melancholic atmosphere characteristic of Vietnam’s highlands.
The eastern side of the project faces Đinh Núp Street, while the other three sides (west, north, and south) are surrounded by diverse architectural structures ranging from single-story to multi-story buildings. Additionally, the project is influenced by the predominant wind directions: East – Northeast and West – Southwest, bringing in refreshing breezes that temper the highland sun.
Concept Ideas

Through the project sketches, one can clearly see the spatial arrangement designed to optimize the connection between functional areas and the surrounding natural environment. The URHOUSE team conceptualized the internal layout along the main Đinh Núp Street axis, with a central entrance ensuring smooth circulation and seamless connectivity between spaces.
The project aspires to create a living environment that embodies a modern aesthetic while remaining deeply connected to nature. This is evident in the architects’ thoughtful placement of living areas, ensuring the presence of greenery throughout.
URHOUSE has skillfully divided the space into dynamic and tranquil zones. The dynamic spaces are arranged in open areas, encouraging interaction and shared activities among family members. Meanwhile, the tranquil spaces are thoughtfully separated into small, private structures, offering the necessary seclusion and tranquility for rest and relaxation.

Have you noticed the unique architectural roof design in this project? The roof is crafted using an interlocking style with traditional red tiles, evoking a distinct Asian essence—both familiar and striking. The intersecting angles form sophisticated geometric lines, enhancing water drainage efficiency during rainy days, exemplifying the perfect blend of aesthetics and sustainable functionality.
Inspiration Moodboard

Mentioning Buon Ma Thuot brings to mind vast highlands, a leisurely pace of life, and the free-spirited nature of its people. This land of sun and wind, with its pristine and natural beauty, serves as an endless source of inspiration for architectural works deeply embedded with local identity. Indeed, this project is a seamless integration of nature, indigenous culture, and the essence of “Buon Me,” profoundly reflecting the spirit of the Central Highlands.
Decorative Moodboard

As previously mentioned, the project carries a strong indigenous imprint, which is vividly reflected in the Decorative Moodboard. From patterns and colors to traditional materials, all elements are harmoniously woven together to create a space that is both modern and rich in cultural identity, highlighting the unique beauty of this region.
Furniture Moodboard

For this project, URHOUSE focuses on blending local cultural elements with modern aesthetics. The furniture selection combines traditional handcrafted pieces with contemporary designs, both honoring cultural heritage and ensuring a modern, convenient living space. The furniture features soft curves and flowing lines, reflecting the beauty of the surrounding natural landscape.
